Every year , Scott Publishing Company updates a catalog of U.S. Stamps. This catalog lists the estimated value of the stamp and identifies it with a Scott number. This stamp is Scott#1. It is a 5 cent stamp issued in July 1, 1847 and began a new era in mail service. This stamp has a portrait of Benjamin Franklin on it. Ben Franklin was the first Postmaster General.

The Inverted Jenny
The Inverted Jenny is a United States Postage stamp first issued on May 10, 1918 in which the image of a Curtiss JN-4 Airplane was accidentally printed upside down. This is probably the most famous stamp printing error. Only one pane of 100 of this stamp was ever found. This stamp catalogs for over $600.000.00
